;In chapter one at the end of the chapter equality and his friends find a hole behind the theater. "All of the sudden the earth fell in before us, and we saw a old iron grill over a black hole"(Rand 31) this hole is later to be one of the most important things in the story.
In chapter 2 right off the bat we are introduced to Equality love interest of liberty. I think it was love at first sight because equality said "We stood still; for the first time did we know fear, and then pain."(Rand 39).
Near the end of chapter 2 we learn what happens to the people who say the forbidden word. People who say the word are burned alive at a pyre "and flame set to the pyre"(Rand 50). I think the forbidden word is "I".
In chapter 3 equality, in his cave where he studies discovered electricity "we found it causes lighting"(Rand 53). Later he talks about a box of light bulbs and using those to light cities.
In chapter 4 the golden one/liberty has a new name for equality "The Unconquered (Rand 56). It shows they are both rebelling and how liberty kind of looks up to equality.
