The assanation of Archduke Ferdinand was the spark that caused WWI in Europe. Archduke Ferdinand was the ruler from 1863 until his death in 1914. Europe realized Hungary's anger and decided to side with them in WWI.
New Technology/ Trench Warfare
The Zimmerman Telegram led to the direct US involvement in WWI because Germany told Mexico to take back Texas, Arizona and New Mexico and fight against America. America intecepted the telegram and decoded it and decided to fight against germany in WWI. The sinking of the Lusitania lead to direct US involvement in WWI because Germany launched a U-Boat at a nearby passenger ship and sunk it. This angered America because before this we had been a neutral country.
The Central Powers consisted of the Ottoman empire, Austria, Hungary, Germany and Bulgaria. The Allied Powers consisted of Britian, France, Russia, Italy and the US. The two sides became more even as the war went on.
The Treaty of Paris
During WWI there were many inventions that were new to war. Some included planes tanks and chemical warfare. Trench Warfare was also new to war it proveded cover for the men but also little room to fight.
The WWI aristice ended air sea and land combat in world war 1. But it only ended it between the allies and Germany. The War in sea land and air was still being fought though between the rest of the Central Powers. The armistance was created because America wanted to eliminate the opponent of Germany.
Wilsons 14 points was an adress delivered before a joint meeting of congress. Several points addressed specific territorial issues in Eourope. Others described American diplomacy after the war. And the final points discussed world peace.
