The Great Gatsby James Gatz One-Pager

Storyboard Text

  • Pool Party This Weekend! Those Welcome:Daisy, Nick Carraway, Jordan Baker, Meyer Wolfsheim, and anyone else who would like to join.
  • I think this story's theme is the American dream and heartbreak, which basically defines James Gatz. Jay went from being a poor orphaned child to a rich man who hosts insane parties every weekend at his mansion, in hopes one day the love of his life will wander in. If that doesn't break your heart, I don't know what will.
  • I am rich and powerful but helpless when it comes to resisting my one true love.
  • how would I describe myself in 3 words? I would say mysterious, lonely, and self-made.
  • “I’ll tell you God’s truth. I am the son of some wealthy people in the Middle West — all dead now. I was brought up in America but educated at Oxford, because all my ancestors have been educated there for many years. It is a family tradition.” (Fitzgerald, 65)
  • Jay Gatsby, at your service. Some might say that at the ripe age of 30, I'm New York's most eligible bachelor. I'm a self made man. I work hard and play hard.
  • I believe my only enemy is Tom Buchanan. Our hatred towards each other began because we were in love with the same girl and I claimed she never loved him.

  • I've had my heart broken before. Once bitten, twice shy.
