  • Cause of the Tea act
  • Yes! More money for us
  • Effect of the Tea act
  • The effect of the stamp act was that colonists became angry because they were paying taxes for stamps when the British were not, then 9 colonies sent representatives to a stamp act to try and cancel or repeal it which were called the sons of liberty then the stamp act was repealed in 1766 with the help of the sons of liberty and colonists. (1)(2)(3)
  • Effect of the Tea act
  • The cause of the tea act was that colonists were smuggling tea because it was cheaper than buying it so then the tea act came along and charged taxes but not to the British East India Company which had cheaper tea which encouraged people to buy cheaper tea as they were underselling American merchants. (4)
  • Conclusion
  • The effect of the tea act was that the Americans fought back and kept all imports on the docks to rot/spoil but then colonial governor Thomas Hutchinson ordered American colonists to buy that tea but they refused because they had other plans, then a group of almost 60 people called the sons of liberty boarded 3 East India company trading ships and dumped 342 chests into the harbor...
  • but then the British fought back where they closed the Boston harbor and also allowed British troops to enter colonists homes whenever they wanted and they had to be treated with all they need of food, water, and shelter and accompany them with a good life which was called the intolerable act. (5)
