Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • We follow the hobo code.
  • I take care of you. You take care of me.
  • Conflict
  • Cal, we are Creek Indians. I also have to go to Washington to get our farm back. Since I can't take you with me, you have to go to the Challagi Indian School.
  • I'm Creek Indian?
  • Rising Action
  • I had an aunt who could see things. Maybe something in the past. Maybe even something in the future.
  • There are others like me? People seeing events though other people's eyes like I do?
  • Cal and his father, Pop, are hobos. They lost their farm and follow the hobo code. They talk about the code and taking care of each other as the walk across the dirt road.
  • Climax
  • Does my vision of my father dying mean that it will happen?
  • A vision is more of what may happen, not what has to happen.
  • Cal and Pop are in a box car. Pop told Cal that they are both Creek Indians. He also told him that he must go to Washington to ask for bonus money to get their farm back. He also told Cal that he must go to Challagi Indian Boarding school. Cal is confused when he hears this news.
  • Falling Action
  • I missed you.
  • Cal is already at Challagi. He has made a friend called Possum. Cal had just had one of his visions. Possum tells Cal about his aunt who can see things in the past or future. Cal is surprised that there are others like him.
  • Resolution
  • Pop, I want to go back to Challagi.
  • You sure about that, son?
  • Cal had made more friends. Cal had recently had a sweat and a vision about his father dying. He tells his friends about his vision. Deacon, one of Cal's friends, tells him that a vision of the future can be changed. Cal then realizes that he must leave the school to save his father.
  • Not what has to happen... I know what I must do. I must leave the school to save Pop.
  • Cal had already left Challagi and made it to Washington. He had already found his father, as well. They are sitting by a fire at the camp where the bonusers are at. Cal is holding letters that he wanted to send to his father, but couldn't since he didn't know where exactly to send them. Cal and Pop tell each other that they missed them.
  • Me too.
  • Cal had succeeded at saving Pop. They are back on the road. Cal realized that he has two roads to his life, and that he must go back to Challagi, where his first real friends were. He tells Pop.
  • Yes.
