  • Hubris: Extreme Pride
  • Hamartia: The Heroes fatal flaw
  • Peripeteia: Turning of fortune
  • Othello in the General of the Venetian Army, he has served in the army many years and is respected among many of his troops.
  • Anagnorisis: Hero makes a critical discovery
  • Othello is going to wed a beautiful young women, Othello is old and black, yet his wife his young and pretty. This makes Othello believe he isn't good enough for his wife to be. insecurity is his flaw.
  • Nemesis: His fate that cannot be averted
  • When Othello arrives at Cyprus, he begins to believe Iago's lies that Desdemona is sleeping around with other men, the stress causes Othello to have an epileptic fit.
  • Catharsis: Moment of formal self.
  • Iago plants a handkerchief in Othello's partner's bag to convince Othello she's having an affair with Cassio. The handkerchief has a significant meaning important to Othello's relationship with his partner.
  • Othello now begins to treat Desdemona in a disrespectful way, he abuses her in front of high status people and shows little love for her after (what he assumes) she betrayed his trust. H late goes on to murder her; smothering her to death.
  • Othello finds out Iago had planted the evidence and framed his wife for adultery. In range and honour of his wife Othello stabs Iago, but not fatally, and asks his motive. Iago does not tell Othello why he did this. Othello and Iago were then both arrested. Othello then went on to kill himself.
