  • Acomplishments
  • At my college, Morgan State University, I am one of only two women who major in this physics class!
  • Connections To Me
  • I checked out a book, The Boys First Book On Electronics, at the age of 8. When Lucia was around that age, she liked to read books that involved science and sometimes technology as well
  • Legacy
  • In 1976, I attended an exhibit and on display was a light bulb that was removed from its socket, but still lit. This inspired me to build the illusion transmitter that is still used today
  • Valerie was also awarded later in her life the NASA Equal Opportunity Medal and the GSFC (Goddard Space Flight Center) Award of Merit
  • I'm very interested in Science, experiments and inventing things like Valerie. She also lived in Maryland, and I went to Maryland once with my family
  • Valerie began a positon at NASA, as a mathematical/data analyst and after that, she later served as the Space Physics Anaylisis Network(SPAN) project manager. Now SPAN is a big part of todays science networking and internet
