Kimberly had just arrived home from school with the plan to relax...
when a sudden commotion from outside her bedroom caught her attention.
Before she could process the situation, her mother appeared...
and asked her to greet relatives that had stopped by.
Kimberly, come say hi to our visitors.
Kimberly questioned her mother.
Why do I have to?
She did not understand why she was expected to greet anyone until her mother explained.
Because we don't want to be rude and it's the right thing to do.
So Kimberly left her room to greet the visitors, fulfilling her obligation.
Obligation [ob-li-gey-shuh n] 1. something (such as a formal contract, a promise, or the demands of conscience or custom) that obligates one to a course of action. 2. something one is bound to do : duty, responsibility
