Jacob was Joseph's father, he had 12 sons, Reuben, Dan, Simeon, Gad, Levi, Asher, Judah, Naphtali, Zebulun, Joseph, Issachar and Benjamin, but Jacob was his favourite wife's son. He liked him best because he reminded Jacob of her.
To show that Joseph was his favourite, he gave him a coat of many many colours. The other brothers were very jealous, especially since Joseph could interpret dreams, and he often had dreams that implied he was better than them.
The other brothers didn't like the fact that Joseph was their dad's favourite, so they took him out into the desert and sold him as a slave.
IT WAS HIM!
Please sir, have mercy! I'm framed!
The brothers told their father that Joseph died and show him the coat which they covered in goat blood. Joseph is temporarily forgotten by his family.
Meanwhile Joseph was working for Potiphar, who was very rich. Potiphar trusted Joseph as his favourite servant, and he liked him a lot.
Potiphar's wife liked Joseph too, and she tried to seduce him. Potiphar found out and his wife framed Joseph.
