Svetlogub is incarcerated due to being apart of the Revolution in Russia. Although he is in prison he still is determined to continue to fight
I will live on through Svetlogub's legacy. Long live the revolution!
The guards give Svetlogub a Bible. He reads this and comes to an enlightened phase. The guards inform him that he will be executed the following morning
You are an idiot! They should've executed you!
Svetlogub is satisfied with his life but is disappointed he couldn't say goodbye to his mother. He gets executed with a smile on his face and everyone around him is in awe.
The end was inevitable
Mezhenetsky, a partner of Svetlogub is also captured due to his assistance to the revolution in Russia. Like Svetlogub he is angry and wants to let the revolution live on.
During Mezhenetsky’s incarceration people make fun of him and harass his for being apart of the revolution. Due to this Meahenestky becomes bitter and cynical, he starts to keep his distance from people.
Mezhenetsky, having had enough of the cruel and bitter environment sets off to kill himself. He ties a noose to the pipe in his jail cells and then commits suicide.
