In my family, during thanksgiving the kids play and the parents talk and the dogs do what they got to do. Then, we gather up and eat.
The Native Americans celebrate Mourning Day instead. Mourning Day is a reminder of the assault of the Natives like land being stolen, them being killed, and us capturing them and using them as slavery. During Mourning Native Americans don't eat all day they sit around the Cole's Hill in Plymouth and sit in silence.
Now I will focus on them and not me and on how we treated them disrespectful and rude. My view has changed a lot and now thinking of thanksgiving makes me sad because it makes me think of the poorly way we treated them.
