  • Battle of Fort Sumter- 1861
  • The First Battle of Bull Run- 1861
  • Battle of Shiloh- 1862
  • The Battle of Fort  Sumter was the opening engagement of the American Civil War. It took place at the harbor of  Charleston, North Carolina. The Confederate won the battle.
  • Siege of Vicksburg- 1863
  • This was the first major battle of the Civil War. It was fought at a small tributary of the Potomac named Bull Run. This battle led to a Confederate victory!
  • Battle of Atlanta- 1864
  • Victory!
  • The Battle of Shiloh was the first major battle of the Western Theater of The American Civil War. General Sidney Johnston launched a surprise attack on the encampment. The Union took the victory.
  • Battle of Appomattox Station and Court House- 1865
  •  The Siege of Vicksburg was a six- week siege of the city of Vicksburg. The Union Army of Tennessee crossed the Mississippi River, pushing the Confederate Army of Mississippi into defensive lines.
  • The Battle of Atlanta was known for its' political impact. This battle was during the re-election of Abraham Lincoln. The battle led to a Union victory. 
  • The Confederate Army of North Virginia arrived at Appomattox. The Union Army was 120,000 men- strong. General Philip Sheridan gained control of the supplies.
