Maui and his brothers are cooking food on the fire. After a day hunting and doing work around the village, it is frustrating that they must eat their meal in the dark.
Why must the sun be in such a hurry to race from one side of the land to the other?
It always gets dark so quickly Maui. We never have time to cook all our food and eat it before the sun goes down.
Yes my brothers, I know. We should discuss this with the village council and see what we can to solve the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on how we can slow the movement of the sun?
I have accomplished many things thought to have been impossible, with my magical hook. I believe I can convince the sun to slow it's passage accross our sky.
We must make enough rope to hold down the sun. I will use my magical hook to persuade the sun to slow its course, so that we may enjoy more of it's warmth and light.
Why do we need to make all of this flax rope Maui?
Maui and his brothers travel many miles to the sun's lair.
