Storyboard Text

  • Maui and his brothers are cooking food on the fire. After a day hunting and doing work around the village, it is frustrating that they must eat their meal in the dark.
  • Why must the sun be in such a hurry to race from one side of the land to the other?
  • It always gets dark so quickly Maui. We never have time to cook all our food and eat it before the sun goes down.
  • Yes my brothers, I know. We should discuss this with the village council and see what we can to solve the problem.
  • Does anyone have any ideas on how we can slow the movement of the sun?
  • I have accomplished many things thought to have been impossible, with my magical hook. I believe I can convince the sun to slow it's passage accross our sky.
  • We must make enough rope to hold down the sun. I will use my magical hook to persuade the sun to slow its course, so that we may enjoy more of it's warmth and light.
  • Why do we need to make all of this flax rope Maui?
  • Maui and his brothers travel many miles to the sun's lair.
