  • I looked out the window and the kids were gone and I remembered it was the twenty-seventh, so I came-a running.
  • The example of foreshadowing is that she was very eager to stone someone in her village.
  • The foreshadowing was that she was very eager to stone someone, but when she got stoned she was very unhappy.
  • The irony is that Tessie's own son stoned her also.
  • The black box meant something bad happens that needs to be fixed. That's why the box is old and breaking.
  • The theme is that you don't have to do something just because other people are doing it.
