Daedalus fled to the island of Crete, where he began to work at the court of King Minos and Queen Pasiphae.
Daedalus built a maze for the Minotaur, for years King Minos demanded a tribute of youths from Athens to feed the creatures punishment for thee accidental death of his son.
Then an Athenian hero Theseus came to Crete to save thee youths. Princess Ariadne fell in love with Theseus and help him by asking Daedalus. Daedalus gave a flaxen thread to Theseus for him not to get lost. In the end Theseus killed the Minotaur, he save the youth and ran away with Princess Ariadne.
King Minos heard the news about the Labyrinth, the death of the Minotaur and the eloping of the princess. He was angry at Daedalus for helping them that he imprisoned them in a dungeon.
Daedalus thought of a way out, and then he mode wings for them as a mode of transportation out of Crete. He warned his son Icarus not to fly to close to the sun or the wax holding the feathers will melt off.
But Icarus was foolish, he did not follow the instruction that was given to him, in the end h plunged into his death, never to be seen again. His father grieved the loss of his only child. That is why we should always follow our parents, because they know best.
