  • ?????
  • Silas used to live in Lantern Yard, a small community, and he had a high status among people there. But his best friend, William Dane, set him to be falsely accused of stealing money from a bank. With all the people believing in Dane, Silas was declared guilt and his fiance broke up their engagement and married Dane. After that, Silas left the town and went to Raveloe, where the rest of the story happens.
  • Raising Eppie with the help of Dolly
  • Silas after losing his money, started to work in a cottage day after day, trying to get money, so them he could go back to Lantern Yard and prove his innocence. After some years, he had a good amount of gold saved, but in a dark night, Dunstan went to his house while Marner was working in the cottage and stole all his gold. Silas was horrified and thought of that as God simply playing and torturing him, just like what happened years before.
  • Finding Dunstan's skeleton and his gold in the drained Stone Pit
  • After Molly, Godfrey's wife, died, Eppie ran from the snow to a place with light near where she was: Silas' house. When he got back home, seeing her hair, his first thought was that it was his gold. After he realized it was a kid, he decides to take care of her since she didn't have a father and he saw himself on the kid, suffering and without any family to take care of her.
  • Silas decides to adopt and raise Eppie, and with Dolly's help, he makes it possible for her to have a good life, teaching her things about the world, bringing her to church and teaching her how to be a good person.
  • 16 years later, after the stone pit was drained, Duntan's skeleton was found in there right next to Silas' gold. Later on life, Godfrey and Nancy try to make her come live with them, since he's her actual father and they have a higher social status, but Eppie decides to stay with Silas taking care of him as he gets older, and to marry Aaron. Silas during these years raising Eppie found his purpose in life again, he's not dark and hopeless anymore and people started to like him.
