  • Apollo gave his son Orpheus a lyre. Apollo played it very beautifully. Orpheus soon married Eurydice, a beautiful woman - Hyman, who was called to bless the marriage, predicted that their love was not to last.
  • One day, Eurydice was in the forest when she got bitten by a snake. She died and Orpheus was grieving much, playing songs of grief on his lyre.  
  • Orpheus went to the Underworld and played his lyre to Hades, melting Hades' cold heart. Hades agreed to let Orpheus to had Eurydice - only if Orpheus did not look at her on his way out of the Underworld.
