  • Pay for Continental Soldier at the End of the War
  • WHAT!? I need real money to pay for my family!
  • Massachusetts Debt
  • I'm going to lose everything I have!:(
  • August 29th in North Hampton
  • We want our farms back!
  • The soldiers were paid very poorly. They were paid with paper certificates. I do not agree with this statement because the soldiers need real money to pay for food and other needs not some certificate. They also have to pay for all of their family. This is why I think the payment was very weak.
  • September 25-28th
  • The Massachusetts legislature raised taxes to pay off the debt. The farmers were shocked. The farmers were shocked because the farmers were used to long-term credit. If they could not pay the taxes at the moment, their farms were taken away from them. The farmers were not happy.
  • Shay's New Plan
  • A big event happened on August 29th. The farmers took action. They were not happy at all. The farmers closed the Hampshire County Court of Common Pleas. The taxing to pay off the debt led to this event.
  • The editor of the Massachusetts Centinel's Observation
  • Oh this is working just fine...
  • From September 25th to 28th, the farmers occupied the Springfield Courthouse. They were still very angry. This prevented the Supreme Judicial Court from sitting there. Along with Captain Shays, there were 600 men. The taxes were beginning to pay the price.
  • We won't leave until you give us what we want!
  • Shay had a new plan. His plan was a surprise attack. He needed a new plan because he realized that they were facing am organized militia. The results were 200 of his men were captured on February 3rd. This is Shay's new plan.
  • Okay so this is my plan...
  • He observed that the "late insurrections in the Commonwealth...must be considered as the cause of bringing the (federal government) into existence, at a much earlier period than would otherwise have been." This means that rebellions were what caused us to change the government. I do agree with this statement. I agree with the statement because I believe that the government would have just kept going, not knowing anything was wrong. This is why I agree with the statement.
  • Are you kidding me? This is not working at all!
