The phone highly stimulates Joe's brain sending it into an awake state.

Joe's mind is exercising but his body needs rest. Now he can't sleep, all because of the phone.
This is caused by the blue light in phones suppressing melatonin and preventing sleep from coming to Joe, leaving him tired and cranky.
Try turning on nighttime mode on your phone and avoid blue light, because you won't be running, but your brain will be off at a jog.
