Come on, let's overthrow the Protestant government!
Thomas Percy rented a cellar beneath the Houses of Parliament so that they could blow it up with the king inside too and put Catholics in charge.
If we fill this cellar with gunpowder, when we light it everyone will be blown sky high!
Houses of Parliament
Lord Monteagle received a letter from Francis Tresham (his brother-in-law) that told him not to attend the parliament. He didn't know what to do with it so he gave it to Robert Cecil, English Secretary of State.
DO NOT GO TO PARLIAMENT ON NOVEMBER 5TH IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE
Guy Fawkes was in charge of explosives, so went to light the fuse. However, Robert Cecil organised a search of the building and discovered and arrested Guy Fawkes in the cellar with the gunpowder
I ARREST YOU IN THE NAME OF THE LAW
Guy Fawkes was tortured until he revealed the identities of himself and his conspirators, then trialed him.
Every person involved was killed or tried then executed, except from Francis Tresham who died of infection before his trial. However, he was also decapitated.
