  • Domesday Book
  • Henry II
  • On Christmas Day 1066, William took the crown of England after defeating another person who also wanted power at the Battel of Hastings. He had the Domesday census taken to learn about his kingdom. This helped William and future kings build a succesful system of collecting takes, which would help them build up their kingdom.
  • Edward I
  • William created the Domesday Book. It was a census that counteed all of the people and property of England. William used it to collect taxes to help the kingdom of England grow.
  • Magna Carta
  • In 1154, an energetic, well-educated king, Henry II, inherited the throne. He broadened the system of royal justice, because he was a ruler he could not simply write new.
  • John
  • In 1295 Edward I summoned parliament to accept money for his wars in france. The parliaments later became known as the Model Parliament because it set up the framework for england's legislature.
  • In 1215, a group of rebllious barons cornered John and forced him to Sign the Magna Carta or great character. In this document, the king affirmed a long list of feudal rights
  • Kin John of England was forced to sign the Magna Carta which means "Great Character", in 1215.
