Dave Lizewski is a normal teenager living in New York trying to get through high school. He can be considered a so-called outcast or nerd and shares a passion for comic books alongside his friends, Todd and Marty. He asks himself why no one has tried to be a super hero.

After being jumped by two thugs and hospitalized he returns and searches for more quests. His friend Katy tells him about her ex-boyfriend who won't leave her alone. This causes Dave, now going by, Kick-Ass to go find and confront him.
Crossing the Threshold
When Kick-Ass confronted Razul he was found outnumbered and bit off more than he could chew. Luckily a fellow her, Hit-Girl was there and took out Razul and his goons. This is when Dave realized that the superhero life really isn't for him and Hit-Girl and Big Daddy are the real heroes. Him, he's just a joke
Dave now meets Big Daddy the mentor for Hit-Girl and his own future mentor. This sparks the relationship and contact between them to take down, antagonist, Frank Damico.
