  • Traveling west
  • Spanish is not having it.
  • You can no longer have your things come through Spanish territory
  • Worried Jeffersion
  • American traveled west in search of land and adventure.
  • Napoleon's dream
  • For a couple of years Spanish let American things travel through there territory, but suddenly stopped.
  • The start of the Lewis and Clark Expedition
  • Jefferson was alarmed because he has just learned that France and Spain had secretly agreed to transfer the Louisiana Territory to France.
  • The End
  • Napoleon dreamed of a Western empire so he drove the French out of Santo Domingo. Napoleon had a problem; he needed money to finance his war against Britain.
  • Jefferson wanted to learn about land west of the Mississippi, and Jefferson wanted to learn about the new territory. Then he needed somebody to go on this expedition so thus starting the Lewis and Clark Expedition. When they were there they met a women named Sacagawea and she helped guide them through the new territory.
  • At the end the US thought that Napoleon would withdraw the offer which would make it impossible for the US to have Orleans. So they agreed and signed a Louisiana Purchase Treaty.
