Storyboard Text

  • Hey Callie! What's today's book club topic?
  • Well, I was thinking we could talk about the current events that relate to the book. Specifically current immigration.
  • Whatever you would like! When do we start?
  • Great! I'm actually out of time, can we meet up at 3 pm tomorrow? My house. I'll bring some books to help us research.
  • Yeah. There are tons of people today who don't treat them right. There is also many people trying to come to the US, but have to go through a long process. As a result, there are immigrants who illegally travel here.
  • Okay. So, I looked online and saw many people still immigrate today and are not treated right. Isn't that what happened in our book?
  • The Next Day
  • I'm not quite getting it.
  • How about we compare and contrast today's immigration and Japanese immigration?
  • That sounds better.
  • I'm in!
  • I know someone who can teach you about this topic. Her name is Lidya Beniyam. I contacted her earlier today and she agreed to make a video explaining everything.
  • Hey guys! It's Lidya here! To view my Flipgrid, click the link located under the one that took you here. Hope you enjoyed this intro!
