  • Ch.1
  • I Sorry George
  • Ch.4
  • Get outta here!
  • Ch.5
  • ohhh nooo what is George gonna say
  • Lennie and George are siting around a fire and are talking. George tells Lennie to hide in the brush if anything bad happens. This is due to the fact that Lennie always gets in trouble no matter where they go. Therefore foreshadowing that Lennie will get in trouble and come back to this spot to hide. This is a very important intro to the story. It sets up our main characters and shows us George must look out for Lennie at all times if they want to even have chance of their dream coming true. Page 16
  • Ch.6
  • I am sorry Lennie it had to be done
  • Crooks Is talking to Lennie and learns about the dream. At first he wants to be apart of it but then later decides to back out because of Curly`s wife. There fore has drained the hope of the dream out of him like many people in the world today that awaken you to reality. This shows the theme that people will pull us down to not allow us to be able to accomplish our dreams. This idea of dreams has been important since the Intro of the book. People have been so interested in this dream to blind them from reality. Crooks has a lot against him and this dream being taken even from him gives us even more insight that his dream will not work out in the end. Page 82

  • Lennie broke Curly`s wife`s neck. This makes him realize that he needs to run because of George`s advice earlier to go hide in the brush. This shows the theme again that unstoppable things will not allow us to be able to accomplish our dreams. Through out the book the characters have been through some rough things but this looks to be the final mistake for Lennie. We know from the intro of the book that terrible events were ahead for them and this looks to be the end for everything. It also shows the book is going to end in the same spot it started. Page 91

  • George shoots Lennie in the back of the head. This event has been foreshadowed throughout the book. George knows that when Curly comes he is going to kill Lennie so he decides he would rather do it himself. This shows finally that the dream will not come true. this is a sad rough ending for our characters. The foreshadowing of the card and shooting the dog as shows us from the start a terrible ending ahead. George knows the end was coming and is now here so in the end he decides that he is the one who is going to put and end to everything. We know that he has made up the dream as a distraction for Lennie and will be the one to end it. It is a bad ending yes but one fit for this book that has so many lessons for the reader. Page 100
