Storyboard Text

  • Recyclable plastics on left hand sideNon recyclable items on the right hand side
  • First, our recyclable items are picked up by the waste collectors and then taken to a Facility to be sorted.
  • All clear!!
  • Our trash is sent to a Facility where it is sorted, by hand, removing wrong items such as plastic bags, clothing batteries and food scraps.
  • After, the plastic is separated into recyclable and non recyclable items, a task completed by a scanning machine. The plastic is then sold to make new products in New Zealand and overseas.
  • As for the non recyclable items such as clothes batteries and other types of plastic, they end up in the habitat of poor animals aka the landfill.
