March 8, 1815, Dear Diary, It's almost daybreak, and I can't sleep. The hunger pangs in my stomach are just to unbearable. I can't take it anymore. I overheard Mummy talking to Uncle about voyaging to the New World; They're saving up our money to ride one of the boats. Hopefully, it's not too long before we leave.
March 9, 1815, Dear Diary, Mummy and Uncle left immiediately this morning, telling me to watch cousin Enoch and my little brother, Lyle. Mummy looked really worried, and I overheard them talking about picking up a few more shifts at the pub, The Angry Boar. I really hope they don't overwork themselves.
March 20, 1815, Dear Diary, Mummy and Uncle woke us up extra early this morning, telling us to pack our bags quickly; then they half dragged us out of the house, hurrying us along the road towards the docks. Enoch was crying so hard he had the hiccups for hours after. Mummy told me she'd tell me why once we're on the boat.
