- I'm standing in one of the few remaining swamps in the Americas. Without your help, this, too, will go.

- "Only 5% of the continental U.S. consists of wetlands, 'yet they are home to nearly 1/3 of all of our plant species,' and to over 1/3 of rare and endangered plant and animal species" (National Geographic). Swamps also protect us from bad weather and absorb carbon dioxide. US swamp land is shrinking despite conservation laws. (Washington Post).
