Peripeteia: the reversal of fortune When born, Oedipus was put on a mountainside to die. He then was rescued which was his second chance at life.
Hubris: extremely proud The villagers became extremely proud when Oedipus lifted the curse. He then became king.
Tragic Hero: literary character who makes a judgement error that inevitably leads to his or her own destruction Oedipus killed his father, became king, and married his mother.
Anagnorisis : The moment when the hero makes an important discovery. The audience knew that he killed his father but he didn't know that he killed him and married his mom.
Nemesis: The unavoidable fate of hero, usually caused by his own hubris. Oedipus blinded himself because of what he did.
Hamarita: The hero's flaw that leads to his tragic downfall. Oedipus denial of him being adopted led to his downfall.
