As a young child my sister and I were taught to help those less fortunate than us by donating our time and money. During trips to New York City, our parents would give us money to give to a homeless person.
Girls, not everyone is as fortunate as you two are. Not everyone has a nice home to live in like you two.
So we would like each of you to donate this money to someone who needs it.
Thank you so much! This is very kind of you. God bless you.
Hi sir. This is for you.
Sorry Mom. I wanted to get my purse so I could bring my own money to New York.
A few months later my family was going back into New York and I decided to bring my own money to donate, instead of using my parents' money.
Lets go Mackenzie!
Wait a minute! I forgot my purse in the car.
It's okay sweetheart. If you want a snack or something Dad and I will pay for it. You didn't need to bring your own money into the city.
No Mom. I wanted my money so I could donate it, not so that I could buy something.
It's okay sweetheart. Why did you want to bring your own money so badly? Dad and I would have given you money to give to someone.
I know, but I wanted to give my own money. It felt so good to help someone, like you always said it would. But you also said that when you use your own money it feels even better, so that's what I wanted to do.
