Storyboard Text

  • DECEMBER 16, 1773- Sons of Liberty, dressed as Mohawk Indians, raid a British tea ship and dump 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor- Known as BOSTON TEA PARTY
  • APRIL 19, 1775- The British march to Concord to seize rebel ammunition stores. They meet a small force of Patriots in Lexington. The Patriot force is simply overpowered by the British- known as BATTLE OF LEXINGTON AND CONCORD
  • JULY 4, 1776- After much debate by 2nd Continental Congress, Declaration of Independence is passed- known as INDEPENDENCE DAY
  • OCTOBER 7, 1777- After back-and-fourth fighting, Saratoga is won by the colonies- known as BATTLE OF SARATOGA 
  • FEBRUARY 1778- France joins war on the colonies' side
  • OCTOBER 19, 1781-The British surrender at Yorktown, making  this the last battle of the Revolutionary War- known as SIEGE OF YORKTOWN
