Tyler, this is the third time we've had to talk after class. Your continual calling out during lessons is extremely disruptive, and behavior that is not acceptable in this classroom. Since we have already spoken about this issue and it's continuing, I am going to have to reach out to your parents.
Dear Parents, I am reaching out to you today to ask for your assistance in helping address some behavioral concerns that have been occurring in the classroom. Tyler has been very disruptive during the lessons. I appreciate your assistance in discussing this issue about Tyler and in helping to create a positive learning environment for all students. If you can please let me know some times that we could speak on the phone to discuss a behavior plan moving forward, I would really appreciate it. Best,Teacher
I need to make sure to log this email into my communication documentation sheet.
Yes of course, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
We're disappointed to hear about Tyler's recent behavior, but very glad you reached out. We would love to hear more about what his behavior is looking like. Would it be possible to ask you a few questions to get a better idea?
I'd like to start by saying that Tyler is a wonderful child. He is kind and caring. However, recently we've been struggling with class disruptions from Tyler. This behavior includes speaking out while I am lecturing and making inappropriate or irrelevant comments during class time. I'm hoping we can get on the same page and figure out the best way to support Tyler.
Is there anything you can tell me or would like me to know, so I can best support Tyler? What do you think would be a good plan of action moving forward?
Yes, Tyler has been struggling with getting enough sleep, so we wonder if that has anything to do with his behavior. We will work on that on our end. With regard to an action plan, we think your recommendation of doing a weekly check in with us, along with at home consequences for negative behavior, is a great start. Hopefully this will be the solution.
