Zeus felt lust towards Metis, the entity of prudence, deep thought and wisdom.
Metis tried to run away from Zeus by changing her form many times, to a hawk, snake and fish, but Zeus did the same and would not relent.
Finally Metis relented and was soon impregnated with Zeus's baby.
An Oracle of Gaea then prophesied that Metis' first child would be a girl but, her second child would be a boy that would overthrow Zeus.
Zeus opened his mouth and swallowed her the next time he saw her. This was the end of Metis but, possibly the beginning of Zeus's wisdom.
