When your soul reached the underworld, you met a boatman that you had to exchange a coin for a ride across the river.
If you were buried with no coin, you were stuck.
Some souls would try to swim across the water. Most people did not make it.
When those who made it across they had little to do except wait to be reborn into a new body.
But, most were shocked to find out they would be stuck there for a long amount of time. In some cases, forever.
I am sorry but, you're suck here.
Those who made it with a coin were sent to the either the Asphodel Meadows, Elysian Fields, or Tartarus.
