  • Exposition
  • Falling Action
  • Inge was a very poor child, who lived with just her father and mother. However, she was able to escape her living conditions and went to live with a very wealthy family who took her in as their own child.
  • Rising Action
  • Denouement
  • Inge began to resent her real mother and father and quickly adjusted to her new fancy life; forgetting where she really came from. Inge's adoptive parents tell her she needs to go see her mother and father. She goes to visit them once, then a second time, bringing a loaf of bread.
  • Climax
  • After Inge falls into the mud puddle, she pluments striaght to the Marsh Women. She is filthy and worried. The Marsh Women has her in a chair; reminding her of all the wrong in her life. Ingrid is deeply affected by her past life and becomes hysterical, feeling very emotional pain.
  • The Marsh Women continues to indulge in reminding her of difficult subjects. Inge can't handle it. Inge looks back on her life and sees everything she has done wrong, facing her own regrets.
  • After thinking long and hard, still receiving her 'torture' from the Marsh Women, God talks to Inge. At the end, a light shines upon her and she no longer has chances to change her past. God changes her to a bird. Even though it was never clarified, the bird eventually flew directly towards the sun.
