It was July 28, 1914. The streets were lined with people because the Archduke of Austria-Hungary was visiting Serbia and everyone was excited, except the Serbians. I am concerned because there is a Serbian gang called the Black Hand, and they don't take nicely to the Archduke coming.
Everything seemed normal until the Archduke went under the bridge. Something bounced off the hood of his car and then blew up after it bounced off the car. It hurt some of the Archduke's men and some citizens, they are going to the hospital, I hope they are ok.
The Archduke wanted to go to the hospital to check on the people and his men to see if they were ok, so he told his driver something and the car started to go off the parade route. Then confusion happened and the driver had to go back so he stopped the car. Then the unthinkable happened.
BANG BANG!! Everyone took cover. No one knew what was going on or where those shots came from, or who shot them. All we could do was hope everything was ok.
When I looked back after a bit the Archduke and his wife were dead, and the shooter had fled the scene, some say the Archduke's last words were "Sophia, don't die for the sake of our children." Most think the Black Hand had something to do with it. I think that to.
They eventually caught the person responsible. His name was Gavrilo Princip, he worked for the Black Hand. They caught other members of the Black Hand as well. Our streets just got a little safer. I still feel bad for the Archduke's family. This event has changed the world as we know it.
