  • Sanger Rainsford was riding in a yacht in the Caribbean Sea when he heard a gunshot. He then got up, went to see what it was, and dropped his pipe. When Rainsford reached for his pipe, he fell off of the boat and could not get back on. He makes his way to an island nearby.
  • Climax
  • Rainsford knows he is not alone on the island because he remembers hearing gunshots and finds footprints. He is very hungry and in need of clothes and shelter. Rainsford meets a man named General Zaroff and he welcomes him into his lavish home with open arms. 
  • Falling Action
  • Rainsford discovers many large animals displayed on Zaroff's wall making it clear the he is a hunter. Rainsford asked Zaroff what else he hunted, and Zaroff replies telling him that he got bored of animals, and now hunts humans. Rainsford is terrified and wants to get out, but doesn't express his fear. 
  • Resolution
  • Rainsford can't sleep knowing that if he does fall asleep, he could be killed by Rainsford. He is terrified and wants to get off of the island. 
  • Rainsford tells General Zaroff that he wants to leave. Rainsford ends up being part of Zaroff's "Most Dangerous Game." Rainsford must survive to win the game. 
  • Rainsford ends up Killing Zaroff in his bedroom. He wins the game.
