Storyboard Text

  • Pre-revolution
  • In France we have high populations, great infrastructure, and we are the center of enlightenment. However, we have very high taxes and a lot of civil unrest...
  • The three estates
  • I'm not rich...or poor...but I have taxes
  • I'm Rich and have no taxes!
  • I'm also rich and have no taxes!
  • I'm very poor and have taxes
  • Reasons to Revolt
  • America
  • Well THEY revolted, now I want to too!
  • France
  • She is explaining the situation in France before the French revolution has begun. France was the "place to be", but people are starting to realize that things may not be so great there.
  • National Assembly
  • This shows the three different estates that make up the social classes in France. The first and second estate are basically the same. The third estate is made up of three parts, the bourgeoisie, city workers, and peasants. The third estate was the largest estate and the only one taxed, but they made the least money.
  • Revolution
  • Though this was not the only reason for their revolt, it was a big one. America's revolution made it so France had the guts to revolt themselves. Two other reasons that they revolted were the pereusive ideas of enlightenment and bad crops.
  • Napoleon
  • The 3rd estate decided they didn't need the 1st or 2nd and created their own representative party. This was the first deliberate act of the French Revolution.
  • We don't need the 1st and 2nd estates!
  • The 2nd estate pledges allegiance to the National Assembly, the regime ends, they run out of money so they claim and sell church land, declaration of the rights of man is made, they work on separation of powers, France goes to war with Austria and Prussia, rebels seize control of France while troops are fighting in the war, Reign of Terror, death of Robespierre.
  • Napoleon steps in and brings and end to the french revolution
