  • WE WON!!!
  • LEFT, LEFT, LEFT RIGHT
  • Truths? Truths.
  • The Battle of Vicksburg was the culmination of a long land and naval campaign by Union forces to capture the key and victorystrategic position during the war. Lincoln recognized the significance of the town and said "Vicksburg is the key, the war can never be brought to a close until that key is in our pocket". The key was to divide the confederacy and prove the military genius of General Grant.
  • PLEASE!! WE WILL DO ANYTHING!!
  • General Sherman was part of a major architect of modern warfare. He led Unions in crushing campaigns through the South, marching through Georgia and the Carolina's. He wanted others to notice that his people weren't protected by their government. He believed that marching created power. This showed his dedication to his people.
  • On April 9, 1865, near the town Appomattox Court House Virginia, Confederate General Lee surrendered his army to Union General Grant. The resulting battle of Appomattox Court House, which lasted only a few hours, effectively brought the four year war to an end.
  • General Grant's conditions for the end of the war was to put the Confederates weapons down, to never fight against the U.S. government again, and to put their return their rifles. These terms were more than General Lee and the Confederacy could've asked for. Although they were crushed to have to surrender, they couldn't dispute the fairness with which they were treated by the North.
  • In conclusion, the amendments 13th, 14th, and 15th, the amendments following the war, were called the reconstruction amendments. They reconstructed what life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness would be for America.
