Storyboard Text

  • The Maze Runner by James Dashner
  • Where am I? What is this place? Is this some kind of prison?
  • Physical Description
  • Who are these people? Why are they talking so different?
  • Main Personality Trait
  • I can't just sit around all day, knowing the fact that we are "stuck in this place
  • Characterization: "He began his new life standing up, surrounded by cold darkness and stale dusty air" He could only remember his name: Thomas. Confused and scared he looked around.
  • Character Trait- At the beginning
  • Main Character, Thomas, was sixteen years old, and had brown hair, and five foot nine, average-looking teenage boy. ("I'd say you're sixteen, and in case you were wondering, five foot nine...brown hair"(Dashner 15). Thomas looked just like the other boys in the maze. He looked like the others but definitely didn't act like the others.
  • Character Trait- In the middle
  • Throughout the entire novel, Thomas's main personality was determined , although he was also nervous, he mainly acted determined through the plot. "Thomas got to his feet and started walking toward the eastern opening. "Well, no one said I couldn't look around." He needed to learn something or he was going to lose his mind" (Dashner 24). Throughout the book, he wasn't willing to sit around all day, he wanted to know something more to what is the place.
  • Character Trait- At the end
  • In the beginning of the novel Thomas was nervous and confused, and didn’t quite know yet what was going on. He didnt even know any of his past or any of his memory. He didn’t want how he even got there there, who put him there, or  anyone his past
  • During the middle of the novel, Thomas' s personality doesn't really change, he is still determined, expect for the fact that he now knows more about what the place is that he was sent to and some of the background. "Time to stay out there and see if anything opens up when the walls move. If they still move."(Dashner 249). Thomas was taking every opportunity or movement he had and sacrificing what he has in getting himself and as many other people out of the maze.
  • Towards the end of the book, Thomas remains determined about getting out any way possible, but he also gets nervous about what he is also getting himself and others into when escaping the maze and what is going to happen next. "An explosion of fear ripped through Thomas. It was now or never…Without hesitating, knowing the others would think he was trying to commit suicide, Thomas sprinted in their direction until he found himself in the middle of the pack of creatures…"Don't worry," he whispered, hoping they could hear him. "I did it on purpose"(Dashner 294) . Thomas is determined on getting out of the maze and is willing to risk his life on getting most out of the maze.
