After a lot of thought Della decides to cut her hair, even though it is one of her most prized possesions. Madame Sofronie offers $20 for her hair. Della takes the money.
Della is at home after her hair is cut. She is worried that Jim won't love her with her hair like that. But she did buy the watch chain for $21 and has 87 cents left.
I hope Jim still loves me. After all, I did this for him.

Jim arrives home and is suprised and in shock that Della cut her hair. Della is trying to make Jim see that it is not that bad.

Jim finally snaps out of it and tells Della he loves her no matter what. Jim decides to give Della her present to show her why he was a little shocked.
