  • Lost most of the land in France
  • Taxed barons heavily and ignored their rights.
  • He collected large amounts of money from churches.
  • People became angry. They wanted their king to follow the same rights as them. 
  • The Decline of Fuedalism
  • In 1225, King John's grandson, King Henery |, helped to include more poeple in the government. 
  • The people forced King John to put his seal on the Magans Carta. 
  • The Bubonic Plague (Black Death) was spread by fleas and rodents. This is because it can turn your fingers a blue/black color. The black death led to the decline of feudalism because so many people died, and led to many changes in Europes economic and social structures.

  • The Magna Carta was a paper that was written, so the King would have the same rights as common people. When Henry's youngest son, John becomes King of England, he was immediately disliked by everyone because of what he did and lost.

  • The Magna Carta led to the decline a fuedalism because it strengthened royalty at the expese or the nobles, and it also shifted some power to the common people.

  • The growth of towns and cities started when a lot more people came from all over to trade and to get the goods they needed. The growth of towns and cities resulted in the decline of feudalism because people left their manor and left and went into the cities to buy goods at markets. 
  • France and England fought in many wars, that made up the 100 Years War. At the beginning of this war, England won all the battles against France because they were using early tactics, and had better armour, and weapons. Soon after, France picked this up and won against England in a battle because they used their own tactics, and they had Joan.

  • The outbreak of war in Europe contributed to the decline of feudalism because it helped shift power from the feudal lords, to the monarchs, and to the common people. Monarchs collected taxes and raised large professional armies. Resulting in the kings not relying on the nobles for an army.
