  • Hey do you think Andrew Jackson should be on the twenty dollar bill?
  • No he should not be on the twenty dollar bill because he only made decisions that benefited him. Yes he did make some good decisions for the people like the Jacksonian Democracy, but with states rights and the Indian Removal policy, he only thought about himself not the right of the people.
  • Yeah! Jacksonian democracy is known as Jackson's election in 1828 to promote the concept of majority rule. During his election, he sold himself as the common man by allowing all white men to vote even if they didn't have land purchased. Because of the spread of political power, his votes for the election in 1828 helped him win the election.
  • You know, Jacksonian Democracy was a movement for spreading political power to the people , and including more democracy in the American government.
  • Andrew Jackson found it difficult to keep the south as one whole. A man named Calhoun argued that the states should have a right to declare laws unconstitutional. Due to this argument there was conflict between the two. Jackson believed that the federal union should decide, but the only way to have a whole unit is to respect the rights of the people.
  • How about, states rights? The states have a right to judge when the federal government has passed an unconstitutional law.

  • Do you know what happened on the War of the National Bank? It was a campaign in 1833 to destroy the Second Bank of the U.S.
  • Jackson felt that the state banks should control the money because it would force the government to be controlled by foreign interests. This means that other countries could interfere with the federal government, which could put pressure on politicians.

  • He used this to his advantage because he introduced the spoils system after winning his election. In this system, the president appoints civil servants to government jobs because they are loyal to him and to his political party.
  • The Indian Removal Policy is an 1830's act that negotiates treaties that makes the Native Americans relocate west.
  • Andrew Jackson used this policy to arrange things with the Southern Native Americans tribes on the Mississippi river for trading. The Native Americans had to either accept American culture or leave their land.
