Storyboard Text

  • Maybe she's right, I mean you and your Dad haven't seen much of each other since the divorce.
  • Again and Again Moment
  • My mom keeps telling me that she thinks my dad will flake out and be a no-show when I go to France.  She's mentioned it like 3 times.
  • The author has most  likely  been mentioning that Summer's Dad hasn't  been  very involved in her life since the divorce. They are  hinting that her Dad won't be there when Summer arrives in France to spend the summer with him.
  • Summer has gotten a phone call from her Dad saying he won't be in France for a few weeks.  She now has to choose between going to France with her Dad or staying with her mom for the summer. She has to decide this quickly because the plane is about the leave.  She's deciding how her summer will be spent in under 5 minutes which makes this a tough question!
  • Tough Questions
  • Um, I'm not sure. I need to think about it.
  • The plane has to push back now, are you still boarding?
  • Using personification to describe the houses as elephants cause the reader to picture the houses more vividly in their mind. When they say elephants that causes us to think of the houses as large.
  • Woah, good use of personification! That causes me to be able to picture the houses even better!
  • Tonight, the houses look like white elephants, sleeping under the sky turning a faint orange.
  • Figurative Language
