The younger prince was jealous of Mai An Tiem and told his father lies about how he was an unworthy and conniving person, so the king banishes him and his wife to an island.
Eventually, they adapted to the island and made a living there.
One day, Mai An Tiem saw these birds drop some seeds on a mountain and he went to go plant the seeds. He later discovered a new fruit and called it the watermelon.
Everyday, Mai An Tiem would send watermelons into the sea to hope that sailors would come find him. Eventually, the watermelon made it to the king and he allowed is adopted son back to the kingdom.
Since then Mai An Tiem was welcomed back and the king planted watermelon seeds for his honor and memory.
