Salva looked around for his group, but sadly they had left salva alone at the barn. He felt hopless and felt like it was his fault they had left him at the barn.
Salva had to be responsible leader to the group of thousands of boys. This shows character growth because at the beginning at the barn he couldn't help himself without the group, now he's leading his own group.
Salva met his new family in New York and was filled with joy! This shows character growth because he's happy to be alive and to have made the long walk unlike some of the other boys.
