I'll make you president if you make me Secretary of State.
The Election of 1824: A Corrupt Bargain
Ok, Deal but don't tell anyone.
The 1828 Election Results:Jackson Wins!
I'm the president!
And the President is Andrew Jackson!
"The People's President"
Let's go we're ready.
You are all invited to at party after my inauguration!
After the election of 1824 all of the candidates did not have the majority of electoral college votes so the 12th amendment was made. The 12th amendment states that if no one wins the majority of the votes then the House of representatives would elect the president and only three candidates can run. So Henry Clay was eliminated but he would vote for the president so hesupposedly had a meeting with JOhn Quincy adams and after that Adams became president.
The Spoils System and Jackson's "Kitchen Cabinet"
Hello Henry Clay i'm sorry but i'm gonna have to let you go.
After four years of planning and mudslinging against John quincy adams. Andrew Jackson Finally Wins the Election
The Nullification Crisis of 1828-1833
Oh no don't do that. Congress pass a lower tariff.
South Carolina will secede from the union as stated in The Nullification Act.
Jackson wanted to be known as the people's president so he tried to be as friendly as he could. He wanted to make the idea that the government was not controlled by wealthy people. He threw a party at his inauguration and it got out of and it got out of hand and an intoxicated crowd destroyed the white house with trash.
Indian Removal Ant and the Trail Of Tears
Oh no really?!?!?
Pack up. You guys are moving west.
The spoils system was known as Jackson's way of "cheating" because he fired all the regular government people (who had experience) and hired his friends and family members as their replacements. His "Kitchen cabinet" was basically what people called it and it meant that no one really knew what they were doing in their jobs.
It's because of your friend. He get's my job right?
This was when they were putting to much of a tariff on things. So South Carolina passed the the Nullification Act and threatened to secede from the union. South Carolina backed down when they lowered the tariffs.
On it SIr.
Jackson and White settlers wanted land so Jackson practically begged congress to pass the Indian Removal Act. They made what is now Oklahoma the Indian Territory. They forced the Indians west and made them go along the Trail of tears and over 4,000 Indians died.
