  • EXPOSITION
  • The Lottery
  • CONFLICT
  • Some of you fellows want to give me a hand?
  • RISING ACTION
  • Okay, everyone come to the black box and pick a paper. And remember don't open it yet, until I tell you too.
  • In the exposition, the boys were collecting stones for "The Lottery." While the boys were collecting them the girls stood aside and watched their brothers and friends. The men stood away from the stones that were located in the corner. The families then gathered up and waited for Mr.Summers.
  • CLIMAX
  • It's Hutchinsons, It's Bill!! Bill got it!
  • There was some conflict because everyone was scared to go near the black box so they had kept their distance from it. Mr.Summers also needed help with something but no one noticed that he did so he had to ask the people standing around for help.
  • FALLING ACTION
  • In the rising action, Mr.Summers had all the paper in the black box and one of those papers had a black dot on it and whoever picked the paper with the black dot was possibly going to get stoned. Mr.Summers gave the people directions and they listned.
  • RESOLUTION
  • In the climax, everyone was finally getting to open their paper to see who had gotten the black dot and everyone figured out that Bill Hutchinson had gotten the black dot.
  • I got the black dot....
  • In the falling action, Bill, Bill Jr, Nancy, Little Dave, and Tessie need to now pick out of the black box again to see who will get stoned and die.
  • I got the black dot.....
  • In the resolution, Tessie most likely died because of all the rocks being stoned. Being stoned is not fair and should not happen to anyone.
