Europe was split into four estates. The first was the king and queen and nobles, they had the most political power. The second estate was mostly made up of peasants. The third Estate were merchants and they even split up this estate to make a fourth one, which were also made up of rural commoners. The lower the class the less say the people had, but ironically the people that had the least say in decisions were the largest group. The people wanted to increase their power and formed a group called the National Assembly. They all took an oath to stick together and make their voices be heard.

A few months after the women´s march at the palace of Versailles they was another march but at the prison in Bastille. Many women gathered together including the angry fish ladies. The Bastille was a huge symbol for the monarchy´s rule over the people. The people knew the monarch was abusing their power and they wanted a big change.
France was severely in debt due to their contribution to the american revolution. This resulted into France´s king Louis XVI making a decision to tax the people and limit their privileges. While Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette lived their lavish lifestyles the people were starving an living in poverty. This poor treatment continued and the people are ready for a drastic change. Angry fish ladies marched and protested for hours at the palace of Versailles. They were extremely violent and severed the heads of the guards.

In 1789 a group called the Jacobin club and it was founded by Robespierre. This group consisted of radicals whose main goals were to eliminate any traces of any social order that was before the revolution. They were also the main contribution to the Reign of terror. Over time the group became more radical and came up with many more ideas like seperation of the church and state just like Voltaire believed in. Soon there leader went crazy and tried to be a god so the group seperated and the reign of terror began
The Reign of terror took many lives and the people no longer wanted to live in fear. Robespierre, Marie Antoniette, and King Louis XVI were all executed by guillotine. The people were now not afraid to speak and be killed, but now there were in need of a new leader.
The people were in need of a new leader and Napolean was ready take over. He seized power and crowned himself emperor of France. He was going to provide his country with a powerful military leadership. When he came to power the French Revolution ended.
