- Musicians would play at the camps to lift the morale of the soldiers. And trust me, we needed it.

- African Americans weren't always allowed to be soldiers, and they weren't payed as much either!

- Beans again? This is the- actually, I've lost track of how many times we've had beans. Not a lot of variety here in the North.
- Maybe we'll find some good food at our next southern raid.

- Yikes! I was going to have my arm amputated, but it looks like I have bigger problems now!
- POW Camps
- This is it I guess. We got captured and put in a POW camp. Most of us won't make it out of here.
- People drop like flies out here, because the condition is terrible.
